GenoTyping Center of America (GTCA) provides fast and accurate genetic testing and colony planning services to accelerate preclinical and drug discovery research and improve laboratory animal welfare. Our team has over 100 years of combined experience and expertise in the life sciences, including research and support in molecular biology, genotyping, colony management, and laboratory management. All managing team members have held various roles at The Jackson Laboratory and understand the importance of establishing the proper genetic identification of mouse models and other research organisms.
We confirm the genetic makeup and consistency of your research models and provide colony planning expertise so you can move forward with confidence. We can analyze any type of research model (mouse, rat, zebrafish, etc.) using a wide variety of sample formats, including tail snips, ear punches, extracted/purified DNA, and swabs. We have the speed and flexibility to fit seamlessly into your workflows and keep your research on track.
We feel that researchers are underserved by testing services that are inflexible, costly, and unable to meet unique requests. We believe research partners should enable a range of research efforts and approaches, not constrain them. Our highly adaptable approach allows us to quickly develop new and novel assays, accept a broad range of sample types, and minimize the need for clients to do any special handling, packaging, or processing of samples. This “customer first” approach is the cornerstone of our ongoing growth and success.
GTCA provides genetic testing and colony management services that support fast and efficient scientific discovery.

Prior to co-founding GTCA, Todd supervised the production group in the Transgenic Genotyping Laboratory at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) and managed genotyping of 10-14,000 samples each week in support of JAX® Mice production and internal scientists. During his 6 year tenure at JAX, he developed or modified all of the methods and processes used for genotyping in a high-throughput laboratory critical to the mission of the institution. Before joining JAX, Todd worked in clinical laboratories for 11 years performing genetic and infectious disease testing on patient samples using a broad range of methodologies. At GTCA Todd uses his knowledge and expertise to develop and validate new methods and procedures to deliver the best possible results in a rapid and cost-effective fashion.
Kat began her 20 years of experience in the life sciences working directly in colony management at The Jackson Laboratory where she learned first-hand the foundations of animal care and streamlining processes within a production setting. She spent the next 13 years in customer support and sales roles interacting with scientists, laboratory personnel, and business management in the life sciences community to support their research utilizing animal models. Whether answering a question as a subject matter expert or engaging in a strategic relationship discussion with multiple levels of a company, understanding their requirements and identifying obstacles became the baseline skill set for promoting solutions and new product line advancements. Kat brings extensive experience establishing and nurturing strong customer relationships within the scientific community.
